Clean Air Day with Blackburn with Darwen Council
(31/07/19)

Blackburn with Darwen Council used Clean Air Day 2019 to encourage people across the borough to tackle air pollution, by informing people of the problems associated with idling cars around the local school.

The borough found that not only were they able to get people to reduce the amount of idling, and reduce the number of journeys, but by encouraging walking, parents were finding more time to spend with their children.

Teachers, parents and children at Lammack Primary School also got involved on the day to encourage more people to walk to school.

They introduced the idea of a walking buddy, wth year 6 pupils supporting the younger children. The children measured the impact that they had, which helped to get them further involved.
