Councillors: Become a Local Clean Air Champion, and join a movement of local leaders working to improve people’s health and reduce inequalities by creating healthy, connected, low carbon communities, where people can breathe clean air at home and in their local neighbourhood.
Want to ask your councillor to become a clean air champion?
We are looking for local leaders who are passionate about the health of their residents and the environment to sign up to become Clean Air Champions for this year’s Clean Air Day (18th June).
Air pollution is linked to a range of health problems throughout our lives – from premature birth and childhood asthma to heart and lung disease, diabetes and strokes in later life. It’s also something that you as a councillor, can do something about. When you sign below you will be sent a Welcome Pack that provides more information on why local Clean Air Champions are so important and how you can tackle air pollution in your community.
As a Clean Air Champion we would ask that you share your commitment to being a Local Clean Air Champion on social media for Clean Air Day using the hashtag #CleanAirDay. More information on how to do this will also be sent to you when you sign up.
As a local Clean Air Champion, we will keep in touch with you with information and tools on tackling air pollution. As a starting point we will invite you to a short information session co-hosted with Mums for Lungs on the vital role that local leaders can play in tackling air pollution for your residents.
